Division 5
Maple Leaf
LG's Address
Hey everyone! I’m Jiana, the Lieutenant Governor for Division 5 for the 2024-2025 school year.
My home Key Club is AY Jackson Key Club, where I’ve been a general member ever since grade 9. Since then, I’ve slowly climbed the ranks- first becoming a social media manager in grade 10, then the co-president in grade 11, and now the LG!
It feels surreal that I’ve come this far, and as I continue on my Key Club journey, I’ll always keep the memory of being a clueless general the back of my mind, and try my best at whatever I attempt. Through Key Club, I’ve met many like-minded individuals whom have all changed my perspective for the better. I even discovered my passion for creating service projects!
Though my future is still foggy, Key Club has helped me clear a path of service and helping others that I for sure want to keep as a part of me for the rest of my life. Outside of Key Club I enjoy dancing, reading, and volunteering.
History
Division 5, also known as the Maple Leaf Division covers the Greater Toronto Area but is not just limited to there. Division 5 also covers some areas of York region and the GTHA region as well. There are currently 8 clubs with almost 300 members and counting in the division and 4 Kiwanis Clubs that sponsor all 8 Key Clubs. Fun Fact: The Kiwanis Club of Casa Loma will be celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2021. The first Key Club they chartered was the Parkdale CI Key Club. I believe Division 5 is different from other divisions because of how the Greater Toronto Area is such a diverse part of Canada and that everyone from Division 5 are from a wide range of neighbourhoods, cultures, and backgrounds.
