The Eastern Canada District is proud to announce that its District Service Project for the second year in a row will be Sleeping Children Around the World.

About the Organization:

SCAW is a Registered Canadian Charity founded by Margaret and Murray Dryden in 1970.

It is operated by volunteers, from the processing of donations to the distribution of bed kits. Each bed kit is $35 and includes a mattress/mat, pillow, sheet, blanket, towel, clothes outfit,

mosquito net (if applicable), and school supplies. Kits are sent to children in some developing

and underdeveloped countries.

The great thing about this charity is that all administrative costs are covered by an

investment account set up by Murray Dryden. The charity does not receive or request

money from any level of government. SCAW guarantees that 100% of every bed kit

donation reaches a needy child. A photograph of every child is taken with the bed kit and labeled showing with donor’s name and address or a special message. Each photograph

is mailed to the donor to remember the child who greatly benefited from their generosity.

THE DREAM: A world in which every child benefits from the comfort of a good night’s sleep.

THE MISSION: Through free-will donations and in partnership with the volunteers, we give

bed kits to needy children in developing countries, thus helping them to face the challenges

of the coming day.

Let’s make a difference in the lives of children by supporting Sleeping Children.  The Sleeping Children web site has all the information [ including contacts for speakers]  needed for each Key Club to raise awareness and raise funds for Sleeping Children.  Phone 1-866-321-1841.
